Summary

The spring-loaded RPG rocket launcher you've asked for is finally here.  This is totally print-in-place, so you can take it right off the printer and start using it.  It can shoot over 30ft/10m with the long range rounds and over 15ft/5m with the replica RPG rounds.

Tips

  • No assembly is required, simply remove the launcher from the build plate and pop off the support in the bottom.  If the support doesn't come off on its own, easiest way to remove it is to push down the plunger at the top of the print and then grab/remove the support.

Filaments used

  • Bambu Matte Caramel
  • Polymaker Metallic Chrome (Amazon link)
  • Polymaker Army Green (Amazon link)
  • Bambu Silk+ Silver

Never point this model at people or animals.  Do not put any objects in the model that don’t come with the model.  Do not attempt to modify the model in any way.  Do not point at eyes or faces, always point the model away from yourself and others. Boost Me (for free)

If you enjoy my work and would like to help support my ability to share more (and even better) models in the future, please consider boosting or buying me a coffee at the link below.   Your support is what helps me have enough filament and supplies to do all the print testing required for my models to be high quality and easy to assemble.  It takes a mountain of test prints for each model. Thanks :-)

Here's a link to my Buy Me a Coffee page, thanks for the support!

Very cool and worked well, probably my favourite toy I’ve printed. it doesn’t shoot the RPG rounds super far (~8ft) I think if you pull it too hard it could have break hence some other reviews being negative, it’s super fun if you’re realistic and not expecting a lethal weapon.

Why does the long-range ammo look so much more different than the regular ammo?

It has somewhat to do with trial and error and probably aerodynamics if I had a guess. For most of my spring-loaded launcher models, the more realistic ammo tends to be larger and heavier so it doesn't travel as far. The long range ammo is much lighter and closer to being round and symmetrical so it would theoretically fly through the air more easily as well. I originally made the longer range ammo for a ship's cannon model, but it flew so far that I now just include it with all of my launcher models as an option if you want something that flies super far.

do you have any idea what minimum angle bambu supports? I am on an ender 5 and the supports are all the way up through the spring

The spring is kind of a weird exception, despite having overhangs it's still prints just fine, at least on all the Bambu printers I've tested it with. If you enable automatic supports it will think it needs supports but it actually doesn't. To answer your question though, it depends on the layer height, for a 0.2 mm layer height the minimum support angle for Bambu is 30°, but less than 0.2 it decreases at least a 25° if not 20° first the shortest layer heights. If I had a guess, the reason why the spring can print despite the overhang is because each layer is overhang is very minimal.

the grip on the back that you use to easily pull back broke very easily

Thanks for the feedback, I'm working on a new version with a separately printed but stronger pull back handle.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm working on a alternate version that would be quite a bit stronger, the only trade off is that it's no longer print in place and requires some really easy assembly, but that's probably a decent trade-off.
