Discobolus Reframed
Print Profile(1)

Description
Discobolus Reframed reinterprets Myron's famous sculpture, dating from approximately 450 BC, bringing the athlete into a new visual context. The figure partially emerges from a rigid frame, creating tension between the organic movement of the body and the static geometry of the background
The work uses as its basis a 3D scan of the plaster cast Discobolus (The Discus Thrower), preserved in the Royal Cast Collection of the SMK – National Gallery of Denmark. From this classical reference, the composition was reconstructed as a modern relief, with an emphasis on the spatial projection of the arm and the contrast between textured surfaces and flat elements
This work celebrates the balance between tradition and contemporaneity, uniting visual archaeology and digital design
