Rainmaker Rattle Shaker - Sensory Montessori Toy
Print Profile(1)

Description
My partner asked me to make this to use in her “What's in the Bag” routine with our kid and since I'm trying to convince her buying a 3D printer was our best purchase of 2024, I obliged :D
I also added some texture to the rings to make them more interesting and sensory to the touch.
Printing Instructions and Advice:
- I used transparent PLA for the “Glass” part. I tried to follow the advice here as best I could, but I don't have a larger nozzle as suggested or a filament dryer, but I'm quite happy with the end result.
There are also more instructions by Bambulab here - The beads for the print are not included in the profiles, but personally I used desiccant beads, which from what I googled are non-toxic. I think the blue ones though are toxic. It depends on what they are made of. In any case, you should beads that are ~5-7mm in diameter.
- You will need to print the second plate of the first print profile 2 times to make the full rainmaker, unless you can fit them all on your build plate.
WARNING: Health Hazard!!! Because this is intended as a toy, I feel I should warn you not to let babies and kids handle this, especially unsupervised, because PLA and other 3d printed parts are not considered safe for kids to put in their mouth. It is considered unhygienic because of the layer lines, any part that breaks could be a chocking hazard and who knows if the filaments each one of us use is BPA free and non toxic. Also it is important what you fill in the toy with, as it might be a chocking hazard or even toxic. If it's broken or unscrewed it is easy to end up with beads everywhere. So handle with care.
That said, let's make it rain!!!
On a side note, I also found out it's really nice as a fidget for grownups :D
