📸 Safety Quick-Link for Camera Accessories

Concept: Inspired by the Peak Design Anchor Link, I have developed my own extremely secure yet fast-releasing attachment link for camera straps, hand grips, and other accessories.

Focus: Safety and Protection The design prioritizes the protection of your camera. The link is engineered to intentionally "open"  at a pull force of approximately 10.3 kg.  The link does not break, its designed to “fail” and be used again and again!!!

This happens before the mounted camera housing attachment point—which usually tears out at 15–20 kg—is damaged. This prevents a total failure of the mounting surface on the camera body.

Attachment Method & Recommendation The anchor is attached using a thin cord, typically 1–2 mm. This enables discreet and inconspicuous carrying on the camera. My recommendation is Kevlar catfish fishing line, which costs only a few euros and provides a 120 kg tensile strength at 1mm thickness (also very usefull for all kind of things ;) )

Technical Specifications and Printing Requirements:

  • Break Strength (Link): Tested at approx. 10.3 kg.
  • Strap Attachment (for 15mm straps): Tested at approx. 25 kg.
  • Material (Mandatory): TPU with a Shore Hardness of at least 58D or higher.
    • Tested Material: Extruder TPP Flex Hard (Shore 58D).
    • Alternative: Bambu Lab "TPU for AMS" should also work.
  • Print Settings (for required safety):
    • Infill: 100% (still uses only a few grams).
    • Wall Thickness (Perimeters): Increase to at least 4.

Handling and Function: The link locks in securely with a clear, audible "Click." It can be easily and quickly released with one hand under slight pressure.
