Boost Me (for free)
If you find this a useful print consider giving it a Boost. I'd appreciate it.
A simple hand grip that slips on and clamps onto standard U.S. / North American sized ¾" PVC pipe. It is also designed to be tightened using a 1.75" or 2" long ¼-20 bolt, nut and washer. I recommend printing in a softer material like TPU to resist breakage when tightening the clamping mechanism.
I designed it with an optional large flange for my use case with roll of pallet shrink-wrap. It stops the roll from rubbing your hands when it spins.
To assemble:
- Glue the optional wide flange onto the main grip if you want it.
- Insert the nut into the recess on the small wedge. Optionally if you have a ¼-20 flange nut (see images) I find using those upside down spreads the pressure and greatly assists in being able to tighten the grip without damaging the wedge.
- Drop the assembled wedge and nut into the grip wedge side facing in.
- Put a washer on the bolt to spread clamping force and prevent the bolt head from digging into the handle material.
- Insert the bolt through the hole in the end of the grip and thread it into the nut on the wedge. Tighten it finger tight for now.
- Slide the assembled grip onto the PVC pipe until it seats all the way down.
- Tighten the bolt while holding the grip still. It will take a fair amount of force to create a solid lock onto the PVC.
