Meet Dollop! The Sweetest Ornament on the Tree
Everyone knows the classic candy cane, but have you met his chubby, cheerful cousin? This is Dollop, a festive little character inspired by the squishy vibes of dough-boy characters, but with a peppermint twist. Heās round, heās happy, and heās ready to hang out (literally) on your Christmas tree!
I designed Dollop because I wanted an ornament that had more personality than a standard hook. He has a tiny hole at the top for a string or wire hook, and his little arms rest perfectly against the pine needles, making him look right at home.
š Printing Notes & "The Poop" WarningĀ
This model is designed for multicolor printing (AMS). Because of the alternating red and white stripes, I want to be totally transparent: this print generates a fair amount of filament waste (poop).
To keep the white strips looking crisp and snowy without pink bleeding from the red, the flush volumes need to be set relatively high (I got away with 0.8 in the model images!). However, the trade-off is absolutely worth it!
- Built to Last: This isn't a flimsy, hollow vase-mode print. Dollop prints as a dense, sturdy object.
- High Quality: The final result feels heavy and premium in your handālike a solid piece of decor that will last for years, not just one season.
Print Settings Recommendation:
- Material: PLA (White, Red, and Black)
- Infill: 10-15% (He is naturally chunky, so he doesn't need high infill to be strong).
- Supports: Minimal supports are needed under the "hook" of his head and his feet, but he is generally easy to print.Ā
- The print profile has adjusted settings for a cleaner support interface; this can make them a little hard to remove under the legs. Don't worry, though, they come off pretty easily with a little metal tool!
I hope Dollop brings a smile to your face and some extra sweetness to your holiday setup. If you print him, please share a pictureāIād love to see him in the wild! Happy Holidays! šš¬
