✨ Fantasy Storybook
“Fantasy and reality often overlap.” — Walt Disney
🕯️ Inspiration, A Storybook Pulled From the Atrium Itself
Inspired by the Fantasy’s iconic chandelier and Art Nouveau motifs, the front cover features a multicolored, filament-rich design built to shine under Bambu’s H2C Vortek Changer. This project challenged me to use color more boldly and more intricately than ever before — layering blues, golds, metallics, and even glow-in-the-dark tones to create a cover that feels alive when light touches it.
At the heart of the design is a stylized peacock eye, reinterpreting the chandelier’s elongated core into something more dynamic, holographic, and visually expressive. With a carefully planned color transition between CookieCAD Witches Blue and Silk+ Gold, the motif shimmers and shifts when viewed from different angles.
The result feels like a magical object you might find in the ship’s atrium — a secret story waiting to be opened.
As the fourth entry in the Disney Cruise Ship Collection, the Fantasy Storybook joins:
Each piece captures the essence of its ship’s name through stylized sculptural design. The Fantasy Storybook reflects the ship’s artistry, elegance, and theatrical spirit, brought to life in a small keepsake meant for gifting, collecting, or adding a touch of magic to a voyage at sea.
⚙️ Print Details for Makers
The Fantasy Storybook prints in two parts:
- Back cover + spine + pages: a single combined piece using 3 filaments
- Front cover: a 9-filament, multicolor centerpiece that snaps on cleanly
No supports are needed, and although a 0.4 mm nozzle works beautifully, a 0.2 mm layer height brings out even finer detail on the cover. The project was designed around Bambu PLA, accented with Polymaker PolyLite Gold using the Bambu Silk profile.
Suggested colors include:
- Basic Blue
- Matte White
- Bambu Silk+ Gold
- Metallic Green
- Glow Blue
- Glow Green
- Glow Pink
- CookieCAD Witches Blue
- CookieCAD Pale Blue Elixir
- Polymaker Silk Gold
To add more depth, the Hilbert Curve surface pattern is used across the covers — giving the storybook a tactile, handcrafted feel without any special post-processing. Just print, snap, and it’s ready.
Glow filaments also bring a touch of nighttime magic, echoing the chandelier’s glow when the atrium lights dim and the ship settles into evening.
🔔 Sailing Forward
Creating the Fantasy Storybook has been one of my favorite projects yet — equal parts technical challenge, artistic experiment, and love letter to the ship that inspired it.
