This OpenSCAD code generates a fully parametric military-style dog tag, designed to be adapted to many different uses: identification, gadgets, keychains, informational tags, and more.
All main features of the tag can be customized by simply editing the parameters at the top of the file.Print in minutes.
If desired, you can color the inside of the characters using Bambustudio. However, it all depends on the size you use.

 Tag dimensions and shape

  • Width, height, and thickness of the tag (tag_width, tag_height, tag_thickness).
  • Classic US dog-tag geometry (rounded “stadium” shape), which automatically adjusts to the chosen dimensions.

Hole and reinforced eyelet

  • Hole radius for chains, rings, or cords (hole_radius).
  • Hole position relative to the tag border (hole_offset_x, hole_offset_y).
  • Reinforced eyelet around the hole:
    • Eyelet ring thickness (eyelet_width)
    • Eyelet extrusion height (eyelet_height)

Raised rim

  • Rim thickness around the perimeter (rim_width).
  • Rim height above the surface (rim_height), useful for a framed look or two-color prints.

Text (4 fully customizable lines)

  • Editable 4 text lines (line1, line2, line3, line4), for example:
    • Full name
    • Blood type
    • Date of birth
    • ID number / phone / code
  • Selectable font (font_name) from multiple families (Sans, Mono, Serif, Narrow…)
  • Text size (text_size)
  • Engraving/embossing depth (text_depth)
  • Character spacing (letter_spacing)
  • Fine horizontal text adjustment (text_x_adjust)
  • Vertical line spacing (line_spacing)

 Standard or stencil mode

  • Standard mode: text engraved or embossed directly on the tag.
  • Stencil mode (stencil_mode):
    • Adds connecting bridges (stencil_bars) to keep characters supported (ideal for masks, engraving, or cutting).
    • Adjustable bridge thickness (stencil_bar_thickness)

 Decorative symbols (star / cross / none)

  • Option to enable or disable a symbol (symbol_enabled)
  • Choose the symbol type (symbol_type):
    • "STAR"
    • "CROSS"
    • "NONE"
  • Symbol size (symbol_size)
  • Extrusion height (symbol_height)
  • Left or right placement (symbol_position = "LEFT" / "RIGHT")
  • Fine position offsets in X and Y (symbol_offset_x, symbol_offset_y)

 Single or double tag layout

  • Option to generate one tag or a dual side-by-side tag set (double_tag)
  • Spacing between the two tags in dual mode (tag_spacing)

In summary, the user can customize:
