Description

Rail Band Scribes 4000 for Surfboard Shaping

This set of tools allows a surfboard shaper to draw scribe lines along the side (outline) of a blank using a standard pencil, to mark the apex and various cut lines of each rail band. For example, if building the typical shortboard rail shape used by such shapers as Pyzel and Arakawa, the 5/8 scribe marks the apex of the rail, the 4/8 marks the upper limit of the tuck, the 6/8 marks the bottom of the rail turn, and the 7/8 and 1 1/8 mark the major deck rail bands. Hold the flat plate of the scribe against the flat bottom of the blank, insert a soft-leaded (6B or softer) pencil into the holder so that the lead just barely touches the foam, and draw. These tools could probably also be used to mark lap lines.

Keep handshaping alive!
