Description
BRS RO/DI Resin Filling System
My first design. I've been wanting to learn CAD and figured I'd start by solving an actual problem I had - the existing BRS resin funnels I found just weren't quite cutting it for me.
What I changed from other designs:
- Made the tamper taller so you can actually reach down into the tube properly
- Widened the tamper base - seems to pack the resin more evenly
- Added threads so the funnel screws onto the tube instead of just sitting on top
- Built in an internal lip to keep resin beads from getting on the threads
It's pretty specific to filling BRS RO/DI cartridges, but if you're running a reef system and refill your own resin, this makes it way less of a pain. The stand holds everything while you fill and stores the tamper when you're done.
Print notes: I printed the example in Bambu PLA-CF but designed it with PETG in mind since that's what the aquarium community generally prefers for anything water-related. Either works fine though. No supports needed, prints easy.
How it works: Screw the funnel onto your BRS tube, pour your resin beads in, use the tamper to pack them down. That's it.
Would love feedback if anyone tries it - this was a good learning project and I'm sure there's room to improve it.
