Fidget Gear Pen (Pilot G2)
Print Profile(1)

Description
Experience a clean and modern 3D-printed pen designed specifically for the PILOT BLS-G2-7 gel refill.
Its engineering-inspired design features a decorative gear pattern and a sturdy two-part body that simply screws together.
One of the first things you’ll notice is the pen’s solid, substantial feel. This isn’t only about long-term reliability — the larger diameter naturally provides a more comfortable and secure grip. All parts are designed to print easily without the need for supports.

I recommend using a 0.4 × 4 × 20 mm pen spring, which is commonly used for this type of refill. I personally prefer a 0.5 × 6 × 22 mm spring, as it provides a slightly more premium feel.
The upper part contains the push button and cam, forming a classic and reliable click mechanism. During assembly, lightly lubricate the push button and cam, leave the pen body loosened by about half a turn, and click the mechanism several times to let the parts settle properly. The cam must be oriented correctly so it can pass through the thread inside the pen body.

Thanks to its longer travel, the click feels exceptionally satisfying and gives the pen a premium feel with every press.
Fully compatible with the PILOT (LG2RF 8F) BLS-G2-7 gel refill.
The refill must pass through the spring at the bottom and fit inside the cam at the top.
Other similar refills with a length of 110 mm and a diameter of 6 mm can also be used.
I chose this refill because Japanese Pilot 0.7 mm gel inserts are known for their smooth writing feel, crisp line quality, and long-standing reputation for excellence. They are also available in a variety of ink colors.

The pen is available in three design variants:
- The minimalist engineering version offers a clean and technical look.
- The version with a taller fixed gear section provides a more tactile experience and makes the pen more engaging to play with in hand.
The fidget variant adds a freely rotating gear ring and requires separate assembly.
This rotating ring is finely knurled and feels very pleasant to spin. It is positioned exactly where your fingers naturally rest, and testers consistently describe the rotation as calming. To achieve smooth movement, the ring uses a very fine clearance.
During assembly, first add a drop of oil under the roller and rotate it several times — this allows the surfaces to settle and the motion to smooth out. Then glue the ring in place above the roller, and only after that assemble the rest of the pen. Since the clearance is very tight, print accuracy and material can affect the initial fit. If the ring does not rotate after printing, simply adjust the roller diameter slightly in Bambu Studio.

The pen has undergone extensive testing, and the final result is the outcome of multiple prototype iterations.
The goal of this project was not just to create another functional pen. I wanted a design that is not only reliable but also playful — something that feels pleasant in hand, helps you focus or unwind, and in doing so supports creativity.
I believe I have achieved that goal. The result is a pen you can enjoy every day: mechanical in its aesthetics, easy to print, satisfying to assemble, and irresistibly fun to click and fidget with.
A stand designed specifically for this pen is also included in the project.
This elegant holder accommodates up to ten pens and is shaped precisely for this model.
It works equally well as a personal organizer for different refill colors or as a presentation stand wherever you want to offer the pen to others.
