Description

This is a histone display that illustrates a nucleosome. The DNA is wrapped around a histone octamer consisting of H3, H4, H2A, and H2B. The model includes methylated cytosines, as well as histone tails, to include epigenetic modifications. For this model, I only include acetylations and methylations. These can be plugged onto the histone tails and stacked to create, e.g., trimethylations.

I personally painted all parts myself, but I have also included a print profile, where the various parts are already painted, ready to be printed using an AMS. Either works. Note that while in real nucleosomes, ~140 base pairs of DNA are needed to wrap around the histone octamer, this model only needs 80 due to its dimensions.
