Body Surfing Handplanes – Print It, Ride It, Love It

Designed from scratch in CAD, these handplanes are made for makers who want to take their surf game into their own hands. I couldn’t find anything that felt right on the usual sites, so I built these with comfort, safety, and performance in mind.

There’s no sharp tip at the end — because most body surfing sessions finish in the sand, and you don’t want anything digging into you. The print orientation is already optimized for strength, so stick with it for best results. You can paint them however you like, or use the included painted version which only needs four colour changes.

I used PETG to give a little flex, but you can experiment with other materials if you prefer. They’ve been tested down at the beach and I can confirm they float, they’re easy to spot in bright colours, and the velcro + neoprene handles make them super comfortable to use.

I originally considered selling these, but decided instead to give back to the community. This project is all about sharing: print one, customise the colours, and take it for a spin in the waves. It’s a fun build that turns into a piece of gear you’ll actually use.
