Exhaust Air Deflector for External Wall Grille DN 160

Purpose:
The exhaust air deflector is intended to prevent the wall from getting dirty due to exhaust air in winter (see pictures). It replaces the original part 990430584 External Wall Grille DN 160.
The exhaust pipe creates a rotating air vortex to prevent horizontal air roll formation which deposits dirt on the wall. (Hopefully)

Print details:

  • Due to the limited build volume of my X1C, I printed the deflector in five parts
  • The parts are screwed together from the back
  • Screws used: Wood screws countersunk head 2.5 × 16 mm

Material:

  • Test print: White PLA (according to tests by "Functional Print Friday" PLA is conditionally suitable for outdoor use as well)
  • Long-term solution: ABS-GF (glass fiber reinforced) for higher weather resistance
  • The current PLA print is initially mounted outside. (If it breaks I will use ABS-GF)

Special features:

  • Two clips hold the exhaust pipe and are pushed over the top of the original ten-sheet wall panel back (please push them on completely, see pictures)
  • The clips are designed to lie on their side in the slicer to avoid problems with layer adhesion and breakage due to unfavorable orientation
  • A solution using tabs like the original sheet metal grille would not be stable enough with plastic
