Transform your empty Bambu Lab spools into practical, stackable storage containers!

See the all new Mk II container - easier to use and stackable with the older version!

These modular containers feature a built-in alignment slot that makes stacking smooth and secure. Need extra height? Simply connect two spool cardboards with the specially designed extension piece to build a taller container.

The lid snaps into place effortlessly using integrated alignment markers for a clean, precise fit every time.

Best of all — no supports required, making this a quick, clean, and efficient print.

Size compatibility - PLEASE READ BEFORE PRINTING

There are three print profiles for different sized spool cores:

Size M for spool cores featuring

Outer diameter: 86.4 mm - 87.7 mm
Inner diameter: 82.2 mm - 83.0 mm

Size M with thicker cardboard for spool cores featuring

Outer diameter: 86.9 mm - 88.5 mm
Inner diameter: 82.2 mm - 83.0 mm

Size L for spool cores featuring

Outer diameter: 88.5 mm - 89.4 mm
Inner diameter: 82.9 mm - 84 mm

The lid is compatible with both sizes and different sizes can be stacked with each other.

If your spool falls outside these ranges, feel free to let me know in the comments — I can create a size variation that fits your spool core.

General Advice:

Spool cores can vary slightly in diameter and thickness. This model is designed to fit the vast majority of Bambu Lab spool cores, but some may feel a bit looser than others. If needed, a small amount of glue can be used to secure the parts firmly in place.

Update v5 - Apr 6 2026:

Added new size with diameter same as in size M, but for thicker card boards (up to ~3mm).
No changes to other sizes.

Update v4 - Dec 8 2025:

Added a new print profile for larger spool cores
Minor changes for better printability and greater strength (bottom part)

Glue on any plate/printer/profile is needed; otherwise this piece bombs out after 20 layers. Otherwise it looks and works great!

Hi, I'm sorry to hear. I understand adhesion issues are frustrating. Please note that these problems are typically due to material or printer settings rather than the design itself. Please refer to Bambu Lab wiki or the forums for troubleshooting the issue. For example: https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/knowledge-sharing/first-layer-not-sticking (not sure if your issue was with the first layer, though).

I added glue and updated the review/rating. i still think something is faulty in the design because it keep failing at the same point- but if glue works around it; good enough I guess.

Yes, they are bambu lab ones. you have a previous comment with a picture that pretty much shows the same issue that I am having. The spool diameter is a little bit bigger than the spacing for the bottom and lid.

Ok, thanks. Looks like the sizes can vary more than I expected. Can you possibly measure the inner and outer diameters of the spool? I really appreciate if you can. I can make a bigger model for wider compatibility

photos with original message now- I find petg translucent is super bright and shiny and quite rich in colour - I have a blue translucent petg same make (Tinmorry) Petg Eco - lovely stuff

Hi! Thanks for this great design. My spools are from a brand called 'Beta Filament' and their dimensions are smaller than your current profiles. The outer diameter is 81mm and the inner diameter is 75 mm. Would it be possible for you to add a smaller size for these dimensions? Thanks in advance!"

Hi, thanks for the request. Unfortunately such a small spool core wouldn't be compatible with the existing lid and the stacking system. I'd like to keep the lid and stacking system of this model as they are. I will consider making a smaller model for smaller cores.
