⛏️ Dwarven General Helmet: Warrior's Crown to Print Yourself!

Greetings, crafters and warriors!

I present to you the Dwarven General Helmet – a masterpiece of ancient dwarven smithing, ready to honor your 3D printers. This helmet is not just armor, but a symbol of valor, pride, and the deep veins of Moria (or your choice!)

The model is extremely detailed, capturing the typical aesthetic of dwarven culture:

  • Embellishments: Rich, golden engravings with Celtic and dwarven patterns
  • Accents: Realistic-looking leather or suede textures and metal plates
  • Focal Point: A striking forehead plate, crowned by a central gemstone detail (perfect for painting or inserting a real cabochon)

Whether for cosplay, as an impressive display piece for your fantasy corner, or as the ultimate addition to your tabletop scenery – this helmet will attract all eyes!

🛠️ Printing and Assembly Notes

  • Scaling: The model is not scaled for a standard head size. Measure your head circumference and adjust the scaling as needed!
  • Material: PETG or PLA are good starting materials. For more stability when wearing, reinforced material may be recommended
  • Supports: Recommended for overhangs, especially for the golden engraving elements. Ensure clean removal to avoid damaging the details

🎨 Post-Processing

The real magic begins after printing!

  1. Sanding & Priming: Smooth the layers for a perfect metallic look
  2. Painting: Use metallic paints (gold, bronze, silver) and dark washes to highlight the age and depth of the engravings
  3. Details: Give the leather part a matte, rough texture and glaze the central gemstone in deep blue or violet

Show us your finished helmets! I look forward to seeing how you bring this piece of dwarven history to life!

I look forward to seeing your creations! Feel free to share your printed helmets in the comments

Happy printing!

As promised, I’m attaching the finished product after applying the transparent finish. I’ll let you judge the final result. It’s a gift for my sister’s boyfriend. It took many hours of work, but I’d say it was worth it. It was also a great way to test my skills in creating wearable pieces.

If it’s not a problem for you, I would add the photo of the full-scale remix directly. Maybe you or someone else could improve it further, for example by adding gemstone settings or other decorative elements. As for the details, I created them manually after printing the product. At the moment I’m not providing support to anyone, since I’m still quite “new” to the platform. And since it seems I might be one of the few people making giant life-size pieces, I’m thinking about focusing my profile in that direction. :D

Creating it at life size was really difficult. I had to make an almost entirely new version, not only to match the realistic dimensions but also to correctly divide the different parts. In the end, the gift turned out really well.

I have used P1S. First of all, you need to measure your friend’s head. After that, always leave about 2–3 cm of extra space to insert foam padding. Divide the model into parts that are convenient for printing and create manual supports. Use the recommended Bambu Lab glue. Also remember, during the slicing and sectioning phase, to plan where to add connectors to join the parts together so the assembly will be easier later. However, keep in mind that the hardest part will be placing these inserts, because the helmet walls are quite thin. Keep the thickness at a minimum of 2 mm, or more if possible, and add several inserts to make sure everything holds firmly. Once everything is fully dry, I will upload at least one photo. This helmet has been very useful to me. Thank you. @Bartmann85

what should I scale to for it to fit a general adult head?

You have to measure your head and adjust it with the measurement tool in the slicer. Since every head is different, there is no uniform scaling.
