Description

I was asked to print this model (link) from sketchfab user rossrobotics (published under a shareable license) for a coworker of my wife. I had to cut the model to minimize supports and print time. I was skeptical about how it would turn out but, as seen in the pictures, it came out shockingly great. Printed in bambu matte with default settings and tree supports.

Glad it turned out for you! The bottom piece (core) broke for me so I superglued a piece of toothpick to join the core back to the main model.

Printed beautifully and made an excellent display piece — though in my case, I may have used it slightly outside its intended purpose. I printed this DS9 model to use as a trellis for my trailing plant, Garak, and it works surprisingly well. The ring structure gives the vines plenty of places to wrap around, and it looks fantastic in the plant shelf setup. The detail is great, the silhouette is immediately recognizable, and it adds just the right amount of nerdy drama to the plant corner. Garak seems pleased with it, though of course he insists he’s “just a simple tailor” and not secretly using the station for any elaborate botanical espionage. My only suggestion is to add a notch somewhere to make it a little easier to line up for connection.
