Islay Lighthouse Bottle Stand: A Tribute to Whisky & the Coast đĽ
Hello makers!
I'm thrilled to share my latest 3D printing project: a personalized bottle stand inspired by the allure of Islay Whisky and its iconic lighthouses. This model was designed to celebrate the unique atmosphere of this Scottish island and is perfect as a gift or display piece.
The Concept:
This piece was created for a peated single malt enthusiast. I wanted to build a small desktop landscape where the lighthouse, a symbol of Islay's rugged coast, watches over the bottle as if guiding it safely home.
Key Model Features:
- Functional Lighthouse: The lighthouse tower is designed to house a small LED (e.g., an LED candle or a custom circuit) to illuminate its lantern, simulating a guiding light. Pieces are separated for easy multi-color printing.
- Realistic Textured Base: The base features a detailed, realistic rock texture inspired by Islay's cliffs and rugged terrain. This detail adds depth and character, turning the stand into a genuine display piece.
- Versatile Dual Compartment: The model is designed to hold both the bottle and a tasting glass (Glencairn or similar style).
- The main compartment has a diameter of 95 mm and is ideal for standard 70cl/75cl bottles or a whisky glass.
- Customizable Detail: The only element designed for personalization is the area on the bottom of the base, perfect for engraving dedications, dates, or personal messages before printing. The "ISLAY" lettering on the top surface is fixed.
- Optimized Multi-Color Design: The model is structured into multiple parts to minimize the number of color changes and filament waste.

Design Process
I used Fusion 360 for the CAD modeling, focusing intensely on creating and integrating the rock texture for a high-impact final look.
I hope you enjoy this model and that it brings a touch of Scottish magic to your home! If you print it, let me know how it turned out and feel free to share your personalized versions.
Happy Printing!
