Description

This model is a Stargate-inspired night light designed and assembled as a fully 3D-printed display piece with a levitating crystal effect.

The main ring and base are printed in PLA, while the inner translucent segments are printed in PETG to let the LED strip shine through. Each glyph on the ring is hand-painted to stand out when illuminated.

A small crystal hangs in the center using a thin fishing line and a pair of magnets—one embedded in the crystal and one in the ring. After placing the model on the stand, the line can be tensioned from below until the floating effect is achieved, then locked in place between the stand and the ring.

A compact LED strip runs through the inner contour of the ring. The LEDs are positioned as close together as possible to create a smooth glowing effect around the entire gate.

The final result is a unique night light with a gently “hovering” crystal and bright sci-fi ambiance—perfect for a desk or shelf display.
