D5x2 mm Round Magnet (20PCS) - CA003

Description

I am not exactly a artistic modeler, I mostly stick to functional stuff that I need around the house or for other projects, but I wanted to combine my hobbies and also give a gift to my gym partner for Christmas. Thus my most complicated model was created.

This PR display is loosely 1:15 scale. I had to make the bar thicker so it wouldn't snap if you dropped it or removed the supports too hard so it is closer to a 5 foot bar than the standard Olympic bar.

One of my main goals was to create something that had a lot of options if you wanted to customize it as a gift for someone:

  • Weights are standard colors in both pounds and kilograms with the according thickness for bumper plates.
  • There are 4 different display types: 3 racks or 4  racks if you don't typically count rows in your big 3 lifts, and with and without a frame
  • There is a cutout on the back of all the frames that fits a standard 1-1/4" drywall screw to mount it on the wall.
  • If you want somewhere to put additional weights for when you break your PR I added an optional rack that can magnetize to the top using 4 5x2 round magnets but it is not required.

One last note about the barbell supports:

Printing thin vertical poles can be tricky so I added extra supports to make sure it doesn't vibrate and throw off the quality, but be careful when removing them. I would recommend pulling off the 2 parts under the collar first (pictured below) and then pushing up from the bottom to release. If you are having issues I did have a few test prints that I printed horizontally and while they did not glide as well when changing plates they still worked and I shrank the bars just a bit so that the extra layer lines and seams should be fine.

Boost Me (for free)

I spent a shocking amount of time tweaking each of the models to make sure they were readable and printed correctly while still looking nice. Coming from someone who does a lot more functional stuff it was a fun project and I appreciate any boosts if you like the model or want to gift it.
