Description

Hey, I'm Foxwood! If you like my work, be sure to follow me for more design in the future!

This Koch Snowflake Lamp Shade is a special seasonal release from my Lamp 2.0 range and my entry for the 2025 Printmas Contest. For this design, I wanted to create a festive geometric lamp that fit naturally alongside my popular kumiko-inspired lamps. While exploring mathematical patterns, I rediscovered the Koch snowflake—a classic fractal created by repeatedly adding triangular “bumps’’ to each side of a starting triangle. With every iteration, the pattern becomes more intricate while still maintaining perfect symmetry. This makes it an ideal motif for a Christmas-themed lamp: crisp, geometric, and naturally snowflake-like.

The Lamp 2.0 system focuses on interchangeability and modularity, and this shade is built around that philosophy.

The bases in this range support multiple lamp kits, including both E27 and E14 builds, allowing makers to reuse their hardware and swap shades effortlessly throughout the year.

You can find the full collection of base options and additional shades— in this collection or on my profile. That means once the holidays are over, you can easily replace the Koch snowflake shade with any other Lamp 2.0 design.

Print Profiles & Recommendations

This lamp shade comes in two print versions:

  • Single-colour profile – ideal for simplicity and clean lines.
  • Dual-colour profile (HD2 System) – designed to take advantage of the HD2’s material capabilities, enabling crisp two-tone prints with minimal purge waste.

Note: I do not recommend attempting the dual-colour version on a single-nozzle printer due to the very high material waste from color changes.
