Description

9mm Ammo Box — Built with BoxLoc

Expanding on the BoxLoc system, this version is designed specifically to store 100/150 rounds of 9mm ammunition in a clean, modular format. It carries over the same smooth design language as my card boxes — rounded edges for comfort, a secure sliding hinge, and a crisp latch with an integrated finger lip for easy use.

Each ammo box includes removable inserts, making it simple to load, organize, and clean. The inserts fit snugly inside the box but can be lifted out when needed, giving you more flexibility for storage or transport. Like other BoxLoc designs, assembly is hardware-free — no tools, screws, or glue required.

  • 6/3/26 - New profile with updated line art added to match the single 9mm Box along with bundled 100 and 150 round inserts. - I will keep the original up as well in case someone prefers the original line art style.
  • 4/29/26 - Added a new increased capacity insert so you can store up to 150 rounds of 9mm ammo in this box.
  • Update 12/2/25 - Just wanted to let those that are looking at this model that I plan to have more caliber options for this larger sized box available soon.  Additionally, I'll be adding support via inserts and an updated model with additional latching tabs w/in the bottom of this larger box for future modularity/mixing of calibers within this height range of ~ 34mm and shorter.  New versions of this larger box will also support taller ammo like 357, 38 special, 223/556 etc.  Rifle rounds and shotgun shells of up to 94mm tall are planned to be incorporated into this box system as well. -

    • For now, I'm going to upload a blank lid and latch (hopefully today) for those that may want to play around with the box as it is currently.

  • Update 11/24/25 - v4 - reduced outermost fillets to promote better printability.

Highlights – Double Edition

  • Holds 100/150 rounds of 9mm ammunition — double/triple the capacity of the original design
  • Compatible with one 100/150-round tray insert or two original 50-round inserts
  • Removable inserts for easy loading and organization
  • Ammo size labels on the legs of the tray inserts for quick identification
  • Rounded edges for comfort and a clean, finished look
  • Refined rear hinge system for smooth, secure lid movement
  • Crisp latches with integrated finger lips for easy opening
  • Stands on all sides for convenient storage and transport
  • Hardware-free assembly — no tools, screws, or glue required
  • Compact and durable — ideal for range use or long-term storage
  • Built on the BoxLoc platform for a consistent look and modular compatibility with future boxes

Fun Bonus:
As a happy accident, the tray insert area happens to fit the CCI Blazer 9mm 50-round plastic tray near perfectly! So, if you’d rather skip printing my custom insert, you can simply drop 2 of those trays right into the box. To remove it, just use a flat tool to gently lift the plastic tray up and out.

Assembly Instructions

  1. Join the lid and base
    • Align the lid’s hinge tabs with the grooves on the bottom of the base.
    • Gently slide the lid upward into the hinge slots.
    • When you feel resistance, lightly wiggle the hinge along the pivot joint as you continue sliding upward to help it seat properly.
    • Double version - Because it includes an additional hinge set, you may need to work each hinge section individually, guiding them upward one at a time, a little at a time, to prevent binding or potential breakage.
    • Continue until the lid clicks securely into place and pivots smoothly.
  2. Attach the front latches
    • Position the latch so the rounded side inserts into the lid at a slight angle.
    • Lightly squeeze the top of each latch to help them pop into place.
    • Make sure the flat side faces outward, so the finger lip curves toward the box.
    • While the latches will technically fit either way, this orientation provides the best comfort and clearance when opening or closing.
  3. Ammo Tray Installation
    • Place the insert tray into the box and press firmly down on all four corners to lock the legs into place. You’ll know it’s fully seated when the top surface sits flush all the way around.
  4. Ammo Tray Removal
    • Remove one round from a corner, then insert the end of a pencil (or similar tool) into the empty hole to gently pry the tray upward at an angle. Once it starts to lift, you can continue with the pencil or grab the exposed edges to fully remove the tray from the box.
