Description

🌲 3D-Printed Black Pine Cones (Austriaca) – Three Variants for Your Seasonal Decor

For this year’s winter decorations I needed authentic Black Pine cones — the long, elegant cones of Pinus nigra (Austriaca).
Since I didn’t happen to have a Black Pine in the living room, I took the traditional maker route:
I designed and printed my own.

You can choose between three versions:

  • Version S – the natural Black Pine cone
  • Version H – with a hole for hanging
  • Version R – with an integrated ring for easy suspension

Black Pine cones have a characteristic elongated shape, and to stay true to that natural form, these models need tree-supports. Removing them takes a little patience — especially around the delicate cone scales — but the final result is well worth the effort.

You can freely scale the cones. The infill is 15% for a realistic weight an top hanging, you can reduce if you want.
Just remember: the smaller you print them, the finer (and more stubborn) the supports become.

For my prints I used Bambulab Matte PLA in warm brown tones, which gives the cones a beautifully authentic, forest-style finish.

🎄 Seasonal Greetings

I wish you a peaceful Advent season and a very Merry Christmas.
If you enjoy these pine cones, feel free to explore my other Christmas creations — such as my Advent calendars or Rudy, the tipsy reindeer with the crooked stare.
