Printing Notes

  • Minimal infill needed – these shells print well even at low density (the current settings in the 3MF).
  • Super fast print settings are totally fine.
  • Supports enabled but often optional – most will print without supports, but tree supports are easy, quick, cleanly removed, and currently enabled.
  • Slicer warnings can be ignored! (these are early prototypes and print fine despite warnings).

The Bigger Goal - On-Demand Custom Scenery

This is part of a new system I’m creating that enables anyone to customize on-demand 3D printable terrain - customizable shapes, textures, and dimensions to instantly create unique rocks, walls, pillars, trees, ruins, buildings, and more based on exactly what you need and want for your table. I’m collecting early feedback, so let me know what terrain types or generator features you want next.

When I download the file, it seems to all be in one big glob (i.e. I can't separate the pillars from one another, they're just one object). Am I doing something wrong? I can't seem to download the pillars separately.

I've never seen this before, and haven't heard of the problem. I have not used Creality's online slicer before. Might be a bug in the file when that slicer loads it. I mostly use bambu studio. You could try downloading the STLs or the 3MF file individually and see if one or the other works better.

Fantastic pillars. We printed the lot and used them in Frostgrave. The next to last smallest pillar didn't print well for us, but the rest were great.

Sound like an awesome idea! Terrain looks fantastic, and custom on demand terrain sound incredible! :) One thing I would say (more for wargaming) would be to have options for a way of getting on the terrain (staircase carved in rocks, or a stepped formation, ladders, etc). and flat surfaces so models can actually be placed on them! Not sure if that would be possible with how you're doing this, but seemed daft not to suggest it! :) Food for thought at least I am sure!
