Description
This model was developed with riders from advrider.com, it's a great forum of people exploring the world.
The BMW R1300 GS/GSA was developed by BMW with an unsafe lighting setup in the rear. On the stock setup the blinkers / indicators are almost not visible under braking. To counter this I bought Weiser Wizards that disable the red part of the indicator while indicating. They also support an auxiliary brake light (or even daytime running light, but this is not allowed in EU) which I like, but I did not like provided mounting options (attached to license plate). So this adapter was born.
This adapter allows you to mount a Denali B6 under the top case mount of the BMW R1300GS or GS Adventure. There a separate adapter for GS and GSA, both in the same `.3mf` file, pick the right adapter for your motorcycle. It won’t interfere with radar. On my setup the cable is routed between the topcase mount and tail, under the passenger (pillion) seat to the Weiser Wizards under the riders seat. Small holes are present to zip-tie the cable and keep stress off internal connections (not shown on all photo's).
You will need longer screws to mount this! Order M5x25mm screws, with flat head. Make sure the material is Stainless Steel A2 for BMW quality. I ordered these screws: https://aliexpress.com/item/1005005748209510.html.
You also need some (stainless or zinc coated) M3 screws with tapered head to attach the Denali B6 to the mount. For the GS I recommend M3x12mm, for the GSA M3x20mm, due to the design of this adapter the rear of the screw may protrude on the GS adapter.
Printing tips
- There are two plates in this model, one is for the GS, the other is for the GS Adventure, please select the correct model!
- Please use at least PETG filament, as PLA is not UV resistant. Best would be ASA or ABS (these produce harmful VOC's when printing though!).
- I use a standard profile, augmented with the following settings for extra strength
- Wall loops: 5
- Bottom shell layers: 5
- Sparse Infill density: 50%
- Sparse Infill pattern: “Adaptive cubic”
