„Large Flying Rudolph with Rope Stand Length approx. 42 cm x Height 40 cm“
🦌 Project Idea A large Rudolph takes off! This version of the popular cartoon moose transforms into a seemingly flying decorative object, staged with a clever rope stand. With front legs tucked in and hind legs extended, it looks as if Rudolph is cheerfully flying away – a real eye-catcher for Christmas and beyond.
🔧 Design & Construction
- Both body halves have a small square hole for adjustment with a square dowel – for clean gluing
- All elements are modular and individually printable: Tongue, teeth, eyes, pupils, antlers, hooves, tail
- The stand consists of a printed thick rope:
- A horizontal loop at the bottom as a base for stability
- The rope winds upwards
- Ends in a hole in the chest strap – creating the illusion that Rudolph is ascending into the air on the rope
🖨️ Printing Instructions
- Optimized for FDM printing
- No AMS needed – color printable with individual parts
- Layer height: 0.2 mm recommended
- Material: PLA /PETG
- Adhesive optional – many parts fit with pins or clamps, the 2 body halves must be glued!
🎨 Special Features
- Flying illusion created by the rope stand – ideal for tables, shelves, or windowsills
- Modular design allows for creative color schemes
- Combinable with Version 1 (Wall Moose) thus all parts of the Wall Moose can be used to create the flying variant!
Perfect as a funny Christmas gift or festive decoration or fun year-round decoration for your home!
Assembly Note: Eyes are oval, best inserted into the opening with pupils tilted downwards, if that doesn't work, turn the eye 180 degrees then turn it upwards, just try a bit, use a little glue if necessary, the hooves are marked left and right!
Printing Notes:
I printed the main body with wood filament Maple Wood from Sunlu, the rest with Bambulab PLA Basic, tongue in PETG for the shine.
If you don't use Bambu Studio and create your own profile, I recommend printing the tongue and teeth almost vertically so that the relevant parts are printed cleanly and fit better.
