Description

With this rain scoop, you can evenly distribute the water over your sauna stones and generate a nice, controlled burst of steam!

It's designed to fit to a standard 24mm broom stick; if you want, you can secure it with a small screw.

I recommend printing it in ABS because of the temperature. PLA somewhat also works, but you can feel that it starts to get soft in the sauna or if your water is quite warm.

Holes too large, preventing fine casting

I have completed several iterations; the current hole size represents a compromise between surface tension and the water pressure within the scoop. Smaller holes proved unsatisfactory. For fine sprays, like those from a watering can, insufficient water pressure is simply available

What can you recommend for this? Just print the holes slightly larger or drill them? I think the water just runs out now and down the scoop, right? Are there other experiences/improvements?

You can try drilling out the holes in 0.5 mm increments. That's how I did it to find an acceptable size for the holes. Initially, I also had them much smaller, and it only came out like a film. With the hole size as in the file, it works very well for me, it comes out in individual streams, and you can dose the pour well. However, you must not tilt too slowly, otherwise it won't work

it is a great print however a bit cumbersome as a right-handed person

I am right-handed myself 😉 But in my sauna, the heater is positioned so strangely that I have to pour water with my left hand. You can simply mirror the ladle in Bambu Studio, I have printed it that way a few times already.

@HamOp very great design. Thx for that. Would it be possible to create a mirror-inverted version? So that watering from the other side is also possible

I think that should be easily possible in Bambu Studio. I‘ll have a look
