Spool Cat Toy Collection – Turn Empty Filament Spools into Hours of Feline Fun! 🐱
I originally thought of these little toys as a fun way to upcycle my mountain of empty spools and donate them to our local ASPCA shelter. The reaction was overwhelming — every single one vanished in minutes when I posted them on local pages! So by popular demand, I’m sharing the complete set with the community.
Each toy is a quick, no-support print that snaps (or lightly glues) onto common empty filament spools, instantly transforming “trash” into an irresistible rolling, rattling, chasing machine that cats go absolutely bonkers for. The trapped jingle balls create that perfect chaotic sound as the spool rolls around the house.
Included spool profiles (print the one that matches your empties):
- SUNLU Gen 1 & Gen 3
- Bambu Lab (because nobody actually throws those gorgeous spools away, right?)
- GEEETECH
- 3DHOJOR
- Hatchbox PLA Standard Plastic
- Overture PLA Cardboard
- Esun Carboard and Plastic
- PolyTerra Cardboard
- ELEGOO Cardboard
Print tips:
- Print 2
- No supports needed
- Most spools snap right on perfectly, but some brands get a little warped over time — a tiny dab of CA glue (super glue) or regular craft glue on the rim fixes any loose fits in seconds.
Print → snap → watch your cat lose their mind. Zero waste, maximum chaos, and shelter-approved!
If these bring even half as much joy to your cats as they did to the shelter kitties, my job here is done. Happy printing and give your furry overlords a boop from me! ❤️
