Description

Description of the Flashforge AD5X IFS Top-Mount System

This model is a custom top-mounted spool and IFS  relocation system designed for the Flashforge AD5X. It moves both IFS modules from the back of the printer to a rigid dual-spool frame positioned above the machine, improving filament flow, reducing drag, and making spool changes far easier.

Hardware Required

To assemble the full mount you will need:

  • 8× M5 × 16 mm bolts
  • 4× M5 × 20 mm bolts
  • 2× M5 × 8 mm bolts
  • 18× M5 nuts
  • 8× M3 × 12 mm bolts
  • 6× M3 × 16 mm bolts
  • 15× M3 nuts
  • PTFE tube 4 x 150mm

Are you also considering a top mount ifs on top but with the filaments next to eachother. I am looking for something like that because I want the printer not wider that it has to be, but if it will be higher that would no problem. I am looking for an enclosure cabinet and what to use a base cabinet like something from IKEA, but the printer is to wide for that right now.

I am working on something right now that is essentially exactly what you’re looking for the problem is it will be about 10 centimeters wider that the printer , that might not be a problem since it will still be as wide as the standard printer with the rolls on the side but top mounted and side by side so you don’t extra space to access the rolls when changing them . I can’t give you an exact timeframe as to when it will be finished but it’s going to be very soon.

Yeah, that is almost what I mean. I am looking for something like tha but nat wider than only the frame of the printer without the rolls on the side. But still, I am curious of your design.

This is what i’m working on now , the only way i can ge it the same width as the printer frame is if i use Bambu lab’s AMS lite spool holders , i will finish the design and i’ll let you know.

Really love this idea. I completed the print yesterday. once assembled I find that the top PTFE tubes bind up with the bottom tubes. If possible I think a good remix would be taller risers, flip the IFS and reduce the input PTFE tubes from 180 degrees to 90 degrees.

Using in the original orientation, the filament inlet makes herendous noise when spools are below 50%.

Temp fix, but i think a redesign would be good. Much quieter now.

I would like to see more pictures and info as well! I am confused as the AD5X mounts the spools on the side, not back? Where/how is the IFS module mounted? What about filament path to it?
