Heroes’ Chess — Game Description

I first created Heroes’ Chess for my 6-year-old son, who loved the idea of chess but kept asking the most honest questions:
“Why is a rook a castle? Why can a castle move like that?”
He learned quickly but also got bored quickly, and I realized something important:
traditional chess is brilliant, but for young players it can feel abstract, mathematical, and not intuitive.

So I set out to design a game that both kids and adults would truly enjoy — something easy to understand, exciting to play, strategic without being a dry math puzzle, rich with meaning, and full of fun.

Heroes’ Chess is that game.

Every unit has a clear origin inspired by medieval history or fantasy traditions, and their abilities reflect real-world logic:

• Rangers strike and retreat — true hit-and-run.
• Berserkers perform a fierce double strike.
• Foot Soldiers form a shield wall.
• Templars unleash heroic last-stand powers.
• Etc…

The game feels alive because every move makes sense, and every piece has a story.

We also added deeper world-building features such as:

• Holy Cities & Holy Grails
• Angels and Peace Zones
• Royal Palaces
• Hero and Soldier classes with unique abilities
• Etc…

I play-tested this with friends, families, and players of all ages. People really love it — it’s intuitive to learn, surprising in strategy, and full of “wow!” moments that make every match memorable.

3D-Printed Full Package

This downloadable/printable package includes everything you need to bring the game to life:

✔ Two complete sets (for two sides)

Each side includes:

• 1 storage box (also used as part of the board structure)
• 40 game pieces
• Various markers & accessories such as Holy Grails, Palaces, Angels, Peace Zone markers, and more

✔ Assembled Board System

The game board is assembled using the modular parts stored inside each box. You can find a brief assembly instruction in the rule book.
When you and your friends play, 2–4 players can quickly assemble the board together, place your pieces, and start the battle.
