Description

Prototype Blank Faceplate for Valves Steam Machine.

I made this so you can put any design on the reverse for yourself.

It allows for 4 x 6x3mm magnets but this can of course be adapted for any ferrous metal as the Steam Machines inbuilt magnets will likely do the trick on their own.

This has been made with the very short time I had with one of the machines. I'll likely update the model once the CAD files are out so, bookmark the model for your own future reference and check back.

Print Tips:

If larger flat objects ever peel up for you, make sure to use brim ears in your sliver software.

How accurate are the dimensions of this? Is it confirmed the magnets are in the faceplates?

If you’re questioning someone’s ability to accurately measure, how much would you trust their ability to accurately measure how accurate they’ve been haha In all seriousness this is based from super quick panicked measurements. could be off but if it is… we’re talking maybe a milimeter at most. I had like seconds to measure it all and I managed because it’s basic. The magnets are in the case, the faceplates might just be tiny metal shims but using polar magnets is obviously better. Once the CAD drawings are released by Valve I’ll cross check and make any adjustments. The only thing that might need ever so slightly altering is the rear magnet placement.

Hey no of course, sarcasm is just my default setting haha. I wasn’t at Valve. Just got to see one through a journo I know. I cross referenced that with the basic drawings we have currently along with the renders they’ve produced. That’s why I created the blank so people can go wild. In all likelihood Valve will release their own CAD file.

Unfortunately the license you chose for publishing this model, makes it impossible to create remixes of it. Therefore the whole idea of creating one’s own design based on this base model/measurements is void. Maybe you could reconsider using a license allowing remixes (non commercial of course if you wish), like CC BY-NC-SA for example. best regards

I noticed this the other day. It’s not what I’ve chosen exactly, it’s that maker world exclusivity seems to be enabled by default and it’s locked into it now. I’ll publish the CAD file, it doesn’t bother me. I’m just waiting for the official measurements first really, as I want to be sure.
