[ Model Overview ]
This model is a jig kit to help you drill the 5/8 holes in steel plate to be used as a welding fixture table.
The kit is intended to help you position a magnetic drill annular cutter hole saw in the plastic holes. Interlock the plates and place them as required as you move along your plate drilling the steel plate.
The holes are 5/8” (0.625 in)
The holes are 1” center away from the side of the table and are 2” center-to-center.
[ Instructions ]
- Pre-mark your holes center on you steel plate (draw a 2in grid, 1in from the table side)
- Using the L-Corner-jig, position your mag drill annular cutter in the center of the hole and lock the mag in place. Lift the chuck, remove the plastic jig before drilling and drill your hole.
- Reinstall the L-Corner-jig and insert a plug in the new hole to secure the jig
- Move to the next hole on the corner jig and repeat the mag drill positionning.
- Repeat for each hole and use as many 5/8 plugs as you can to lock the jig position and ensure a good tolerance.
- As you progress, start stacking the jigs and change the orientations of the jigs.
- Use and side jig, L-Jig or the 2 x 4 jigs as you progress
- Verify your center-to-center and your pre-marked lines often, because if you reference a hole from a bad position, this will ruin your precision.
Tips :
- A painter scraper tool is handy to pop the jigs off the table and out of the holes
- Never drill the holes with plastic jig plates in place, you will melt and scrap the plastic jig plate.
- Change the orientation of the jigs as you go to avoid adding error and to ensure the best accuracy possible.
- Stack the jigs 2 jigs plates high to add interlocks and help with accuracy
- Use fresh prints, since the jig and plugs will wear out print new jigs and plugs as you go.
[ Printing ] PETG-HF in black worked fine for my application but PLA should also be fine.
