Description
The Tactical Air Force Wing 74 (TaktLwG 74; until October 2013 Fighter Wing 74) is a flying combat unit of the German Air Force. It is the first operational wing and one of four units within the Bundeswehr that received the Eurofighter aircraft type. The NATO-assigned wing is stationed at Neuburg Air Base in Neuburg an der Donau and provides the quick reaction alert for the southern airspace; Lechfeld Air Base serves as an alternate airfield. TaktLwG 74 has repeatedly provided honor escorts for foreign state guests in the past and was honored, among others, with the Banner of the Free State of Bavaria. It has participated seven times in the German contingents of NATO Air Policing Baltic; TaktLwG 74 last took on this task in 2024.
