Description

Realistic Reindeer / Caribou

Since there are “zero” 3D-models that look like a real European Reindeer or North-American Caribou (Rangifer tarandus), I just had to make one myself.
The inspiration for the pose on this model was found in a photograph I made in 2013 en route to the North Cape in Norway.

(I've included that picture in the gallery)
I have been working on this model for a very long time, having all kinds of problems: like with bed adhesion due to the three tiny feet that touch the print bed, or models tumbling over due to unbalance. And on some trial-prints, the legs broke due to too flimsy. So I adapted and adapted until it printed fine. I did use a “well known” blue print plate to ensure optimal adherence to the print bed.

There are A LOT of supports needed, and it will take some patience and skills to remove these without damaging the model!

I printed this one on the P2S using “wood” Polymaker PolyTerra, so that only a little painting was needed.
