Description
Blank Man: Magneto [No. 3] Magnetic Upgrade
After a lot of awesome community feedback, we've levelled up Blank Man between us again - thanks to everyone who printed, boosted, commented and rated. I really appreciate it! Also, sorry to those who may have struggled, these prints are a bit of a test of printers and filaments.
Meet Blank Man: Magneto, the fully articulated voxel-style figure with stronger joints, cleaner posing, improved build tolerances… and now MAGNETIC POWERS!
What’s New?
• Magnetised hands & feet:
This is the big upgrade! Plate 2 is a non-magnetic version for anyone not wanting magnets.
• Reinforced ball joints:
Tighter, more controlled posing — ideal for dialled-in printers.
• Tighter ab-crunch joint:
More stability when bending, twisting or throwing flashy heroic (or hilarious) poses.
• Improved clip-fit head:
Still the classic push-fit system, but now slightly easier to snap in securely.
- 1 magnet per hand
- 2 magnets per foot
- Designed for 6mm dia x 3mm thick magnets
- Prints include natural pause points for mid-print insertion
- Make sure to align polarity so your Blank Men attract each other rather than repel! I designed a little Pen Tool to help with this on my profile. (Magnet Dispenser Pen – 45min Print 6x3mm Magnet by Spennolio MakerWorld: Download Free 3D Models)
Now your figures can:
🧲 Stick to fridges & metal shelves
🧲 Chain together in crazy hanging poses
🧲 Balance in new ways that weren’t possible before
🧲 Form display “towers” or stand upside down like little acrobats
Basically… it’s mayhem in the best way.
Print Notes
- Needs reasonably accurate extrusion for the joints - if you struggled with Blank Man: The Strider [No. 2] this won't be for you I'm afraid.
- Magnets insert during print pauses - insert all pointing the same way down i.e. positive to palms and soles of feet.
- For the 2nd foot magnets I use a magnet on the outside to hold in position (see picture).
- If you print two figures - use positive (Red Pen) down for one figure and negative (Blue Pen) down for the other.
- PLA works great.
- Added a separate Plate 2 for a non-magnetic version for those who just want the other changes.
Customisation
Still the same Blank Man spirit and fully colour-customisable.
This model is part of an ongoing exploration into 3D-printed articulation. Each entry in the "Blank" series is a distinct, standalone engineering project—built from the ground up to test specific mechanical functions (such as print-in-place tolerances, magnetic integration, or advanced joint ranges). Unlike a simple version update, each "Blank" offers a completely different assembly logic and play-style for the community to explore.
