🌟 The Birth of a Passion: From Demon's Souls on PS3 to Lordran

Today, I'm not just presenting a 3D print, but a piece of my gaming history, a tribute to the series that redefined the concept of challenge and narrative: From Software's Souls saga.

It all started for me on PS3, with Demon's Souls. That dark, oppressive, and merciless world, with its fragmented storytelling and unique bosses, captivated me immediately. It was an experience that demanded not only skill, but perseverance and respect for the difficulty.

When Dark Souls arrived, the evolution was clear. Lordran's interconnected map was a masterpiece of design, but on that journey, there was an obstacle, a duo that remains etched in the memory of every Unkindled…

⚡ The Dragonslayer in Focus: The Importance of Ornstein

And here's why we're here: Ornstein, the Dragonslayer Knight.

For me, the battle against Ornstein and Smough in Anor Londo is not just one of the hardest, but absolutely the most beautiful boss fight in the entire From Software saga.

  • The Dynamic Duo: The contrast between Ornstein's lightning-fast elegance and Smough's heavy brutality creates a unique coordination challenge. You cannot look away for a moment.
  • The Aesthetics of Anor Londo: Fighting in that opulent and deceptive cathedral makes the triumph even more epic.
  • The Lightning Spear: His electricity-infused spear and his lightning-quick dashes make him a majestic and lethal opponent.

This model tries to capture that very aura: the golden armor, the leonine helmet, and the proud stance of a knight who, regardless of the lore, embodies loyalty and strength.

🛠️ From Passion to 3D Model: The Craft Behind the Creation

Bringing this character to life as a physical model was a rewarding journey that combined modeling with printing engineering. It required meticulous work to ensure accuracy:

  • Printing Precision and Orientation: Finding the right orientation and supports for printing each part was crucial to preserve the intricate details of Ornstein's armor and spear, minimizing imperfections and ensuring a clean print.
  • Digital Coloring (Not Hand-Painted): It is important to highlight that the coloring was achieved directly during the printing process. Instead of hand-painting the model afterward, I used Bambu Studio to digitally assign the colors. I carefully selected four filaments in the shades of Gold, Red, Silver, and Brown and mapped them onto the various parts of the model with extreme precision: the Gold was used for the main armor; the Red for the plume on the helmet and the rubies on the chest plate; the Silver for the chainmail underneath the armor and the spear tip; and the Brown for the spear's handle. This approach guarantees clean, solid colors, without blending or gradients, for a crisp and stylized effect, leveraging the accuracy of bulk filament.

 🎉 Conclusion

Ornstein is more than a boss; he is the symbol of a saga that taught us that never giving up is the true key to victory. I hope this model conveys a bit of the emotion I felt the first time I defeated this legendary duo.

Thank you all. May the Flame be with you!
