Description

Pop a date - A Perpetual Calendar for Your Desk

Drawing inspiration from the ‘Ring-A-Date’ comes this ‘Pop a date’. I like the general concept but had some areas I wanted to improve, such as using a san serif font for the lettering instead of a serif. Additionally, instead of leaving the pegs as a solid stationary holder, I modified it such that each date/peg is able to pop back and forth. The pegs themselves are also designed so that while it can articulate back and forth, they are held in the same position and cannot spin, improving the legibility of this calendar.

One of the key break throughs in designing this piece was allowing it to be printed in one piece, without the need for each peg to be printed individually and reinserted.

This ‘Pop a date’ calendar can stand by itself, but also comes with a stand that can be printed out separately, allowing for more variations of positioning the calendar.

As a homage to the original design ‘Ring-A-Date’, I have also added rings that can be printed as an alternate means of marking out dates.

*Note: Please do not mix the petg & pla models, because of the letters facing down, they may require a different infill overlap % for the first layer. I am still experimenting with the lettering height, they are now at 1mm tall, but you can set it to 0.5mm or keep it flushed if you have an ams.

Depending on your print, the pegs may vary from being loose enough to be pushed out easily by hand, to being quite firmly stuck together. You can use a rubber mallet to free the pegs.
