Overview
This is a 3D printed membrane trumpet, also known as a mirliton or air kazoo.
It produces sound through a vibrating plastic membrane (made from a shopping bag or balloon) instead of a reed or mouthpiece.
There are two versions included:
- Mini (≈82 dB) – compact and easy to carry. 40x130mm
- Maxi (≈88 dB) – louder and with deeper resonance. 55x130mm
The model is designed to be foldable for easy transport and membrane replacement.
Features
- Two sound levels (Mini & Maxi).
- Snap-fit parts — no screws or glue required.
- Works with common plastic bag or balloon membranes.
- Tunable sound by adjusting membrane tension.
- Easy to print with no supports.
Measured Sound Levels
- Mini: ~82 dB (measured at ~25 cm).
- Maxi: ~88 dB (measured at ~25 cm).
Safety Note
Sound levels above 85 dB can be loud!
Do not blow directly near ears and supervise children when in use.
