Original Deportivo Shield (1906) | Sala Calvet

Before it was called Dépor as we know it today, before Riazor, the promotions, the European nights… in A Coruña, “foot ball” was already being played.
And it all began in 1906, in a gym called Sala Calvet.

There, a club was founded that practiced various sports disciplines, among them the newcomer football. In those early years, it coexisted with Coruña FC, but it would be the Sala Calvet team that would eventually evolve and give rise to what we know today as Real Club Deportivo de La Coruña.

The first shield was not yet a flag or a crown.
It was something much simpler, almost artisanal:
the initials of Sala Calvet, intertwined, forming a unique symbol.
