Description

I recently picked up a MantisX and for a while I had it mounted to the Pic Rail of my firearm. Unfortunately I decided to add a light and removing the light to install the Mantis became tedious. Now you should know Mantis sells a nice little accessory kit for $10 that would allow you to install it on the bottom of your mag with decent tape. I would have done that but the bottom of my mags have a locking pin that protrudes so the tape, baseplate, and adaptor would never make good contact. Also given how the Mantis works I wanted to make sure the approach would be as accurate as possible and I just didn't think I could hand place it with tape and have it be straight enough. So I decided to make a custom baseplate with a picatinny module molded directly on to it. This is how it turned out.

The model depicted was made with ABS as I use mine in dryfire and live fire situations and I wanted to make sure it would survive the tornado in my range bag. This base plate will work on all the TP9 series mags which are used on so many lines of Caniks. I can confirm these mags work on MC9 Prime, my TTI Smoke, and my Mete SFT.

To install this you need to

  1. Have a small blunt\dull tool to push the retaining pin in
  2. With the retaining pin pushed in slide the stock base plate forward
  3. Slide the newly printed base plate on while holding the inner spring in place (using the same tool or your finger)
  4. Once its on enough to hold the spring in place slide the tool through the opening and slide the base plate on the rest of the way.
  5. You should hear a satisfying click when the button pops through the opening in the baseplate.

I hope you enjoy and if their is interest I might trying doing the same thing for a P365 or a P322
