Description

I based this speaker box remix on a model I found on Cults. (Many thanks to 3DVerse for sharing!)

Here is the original description:

"Closed speaker box for 6.5"(16cm) speakers with XT60 connector at the back. Designed to be printable all at once at an ender 3 build plate and use m4 nuts and bolts."

Original settings:

"10% infill -> 1kg fillament
10-20% infill advised
Tree Supports"

I made a minor edit to both speakers boxes (right and left): I created new, bigger, XT60 mounting holes on the back of the boxes, since the original holes were significantly smaller than the XT60 sockets I bought off Amazon… I had to cut the holes bigger manually (which was a pain.)

After spending the majority of a roll of filament on these boxes, I did NOT want to reprint them!!

I made the holes bigger, which should work out much better for you.

The XT60 sockets I used:

I printed my boxes in PLA, with 20% infill and tree supports. (PLA since these are being used indoors.)

My print experience:

The boxes looked great on the outside, but on the inside, the “ceiling” did not print perfectly; there was a bit of loose-filament spaghetti…

Since I did not want the speaker's resonance vibrating those loose strands of plastic, I flipped the boxes over (so that the spaghetti was now on the “floor”), and mixed/poured some casting epoxy into each speaker, to solidify everything up. I used 16oz, split between the two boxes.

Worked like a charm, and added some density!

I also used some house insulation inside the boxes for dampening.

The speakers I used ($46 CDN / pair):

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B089QNSXG2

I used M5x40 self-tapping screws to hold the speaker grilles, decorative front piece, and speakers in place.

I used M4x12 for everything else (the XC sockets, and a couple in each speaker to initially hold them in the right place, prior to affixing the fronts and grilles with those bigger screws.)

If you make a build, please share with pictures! If you make any further refinements or improvements, add a print profile!
