Uhura had style, but did she have adaptive noise cancellation? This decorative communicator lets you channel classic Trek while still enjoying your podcast about warp core maintenance. Snap it on, beam it up, and ignore reality for a bit.

This is a fun model that attempts (imperfectly) to match the iconic earpiece worn by Communications Officer Nyota Uhura (played by the incomparable Nichelle Nichols) in Star Trek, the original series.

It is compatible with Apple Airpods Pro 3 and Airpods Pro 2 models. It may be compatible with other models too, but I didn't have those to test with. If someone can measure the stem diameter for other models, I may be able to make a version that works with those too.

Two print profiles are provided, one for Airpods Pro 3 and the other for Airpods Pro 2. The only difference between them is the connector piece that actually attaches to your Airpods. All of the other parts are the same. Choose the profile that matches your Airpods. Special thanks to user ImpatientMaker who measured his Airpods 2 Pros, so I could make a version that fits.

The pieces all either slide together, or snap together, and should be reasonably snug. But if you want to make it sturdy and permanent, I recommend adding some glue. I recommend that you do NOT glue your Airpods to it.

I removed some plastic from the the innermost disks. The intention was to make the model a bit lighter when it hangs on your Airpods. Because those disks are in the middle, you can't really see that they are partly hollow.

It looks best with a shiny silver filament. I like the results with Bambu Lab PLA Silk+.

It should be clear from the photos how to put it all together.

The basis for this model comes from UnimatrixRed's excellent Star Trek TOS Comms Earpiece, which I highly recommend. I changed the parts that connect to the ear, everything from the top disk earward. I also removed some plastic from most of the disks, in order to make the model lighter when it hangs out of your ear.
