🐮 The Two-Headed Calf: A 3D Printed Wonder! 😲

This model was inspired by a poem by Laura Gilpin

The Two-Headed Calf

Tomorrow when the farm boys find this

freak of nature, they will wrap his body

in newspaper and carry him to the museum.

But tonight he is alive and in the north

field with his mother. It is a perfect

summer evening: the moon rising over

the orchard, the wind in the grass.

And as he stares into the sky, there

are twice as many stars as usual.

Get ready to print a piece of natural (and rare!) history with this incredibly detailed 3D model of a Two-Headed Calf! Perfect for collectors of the weird, the wonderful, and the biologically unique. Whether you call it a curio, a conversation starter, or just a cool cow, this model is sure to be the star of your shelf.

🌟 About the Model

  • Design: A lifelike, scaled model capturing the fascinating condition of polycephaly (having more than one head).
  • Purpose: Ideal for display, educational purposes, or simply to marvel at the bizarre beauty of nature (and 3D printing!).

🤯 Fun Facts About Two-Headed Calves

  • What is it? This condition is called polycephaly, but specifically for a two-headed animal, it’s dicephaly.
  • How Rare? While not common, dicephalic calves are the most frequently reported large animals with this condition! It’s an anomaly that can be caused by the incomplete separation of a twin embryo.

  • Survival: Sadly, two-headed calves rarely survive for long after birth due to the strain on their organs. The oldest recorded calf to live with this condition survived for 40 days!

  • Two Brains, One Body: In some cases, both heads can be fully formed and capable of independent functions like blinking, chewing, and responding to stimuli, despite sharing one body. It’s like having two bosses for the same body!

Print it, paint it, and tell its wild story!

I printed these and love them, just having trouble on choosing paint colors!
