Description

Helicopter rotor assembly with turning rotor blades and adjustable pitch / collective.

A great model (thanks to the original designer) which, after considerable time and tinkering, is now easier to print and fit together.

Printing: standard settings with tree supports.

Assembly tips:

  1. Sand the ball joints to take off the bits where the support joined them and make them nice and round.
  2. Use a needle file to file the inside of the T-slots on the 3 frame parts if the sliding parts don't move easily.
  3. Follow the photos to build up the rotor head.
  4. The 3 frame parts are snapped around the 2 circular parts with 3 prongs. With the frame snaps, its easier to slide the top one in, then snap the bottom one.
  5. Put the assembled rotor head down through the frame.
  6. Add the gear wheels and T-slot sliding parts
  7. Snap together pitch links to the T-slot sliding parts.
  8. Push on the bottom gear wheel to the rotor.
  9. Drop on the base and have fun!

A perfect model! I successfully printed the full-size model with the a1mini, the only drawback comes from the unavoidable friction of the ball head itself. I secured the blades with zip ties, otherwise they would rotate unexpectedly

Thanks, at some time I will see if there is a better way to make the ball head so they rotate freely.

Going to try this out. I used to make the parts for real helicopters at Sikorsky Aircraft, this is a different principle than a Blackhawk, but very interesting. More like a Bell/Textron rotor system. Thanks!
