Description

Parametric Oil-Filter Wrench Cap

This is a parametric oil-filter wrench cap designed for easy customization to match any filter you have. The default version fits Subaru Forester filters, but the model can be adjusted for nearly any canister-style oil filter.

By entering your filter’s outer diameter, number of teeth/faces, and tooth height, the tool automatically resizes to fit your specific filter body. It includes a standard 1/2" square drive socket, so it connects directly to a ratchet.

⚙️ Features

  • Fully parametric: Customize diameter, face count, and tooth height for a perfect fit.
  • 1/2" square drive: Works with standard ratchets, extensions, or torque wrenches.
  • 10 mm knockout hole: Pushes the filter out of the cap if it becomes stuck.

🧩 Recommended Print Settings

  • Material: Works with PLA and PETG
  • Infill: 20% grid or gyroid.
  • Perimeters: 4–5 walls for strength.
  • Supports: No supports

🧰 How to Customize

  1. Click the customize button above.
  2. Enter your filter’s diameter, number of faces, and tooth height in millimeters into the model parameters.
  3. Regenerate the model to preview your customized fit.
  4. Export the STL and slice using the print settings above.
  5. Print and test-fit on a clean, dry filter before use.

🪛 Tips

  1. Measure the outer diameter of both the new and old oil filter. Oil filters of different brands will be slightly different sizes. I ended up having to print a different one to remove the old filter.
  2. Make sure the engine is cool
  3. If the filter sticks inside the wrench, insert a 10 mm rod or punch through the center hole and push it free.
  4. Use steady hand pressure, not impact tools.
