Bill of Materials
Description
In the last few weeks I have spent a significant amount of time in Rideshare vehicles - which is a new concept for me - I'm old-ish, I don't like conversation and I like driving myself.
But what I did notice while sitting there is awkward silence while judging the driving skills of others, a lot of drivers drive for more than one company and there is no simple, uniform way of identifying which Rideshare you are representing for that particular fare - other than plastering different logos all over your windscreen etc.
If I booked a Lyft, I want to see the Lyft logo as a car approaches me, especially as it gets dark and licence plates are harder to read (if they even exist on the front - I'm looking at you America!!)
I saw lots of options that used USB lit up boxes, with fancy LEDs and all sorts of bling - but nothing that is just a nice simple illuminated box, and lightboxes would be perfect for this.
So here is a simple Lightbox, utilising a small USB puck light from Ikea for $5 - $6 (see image and US and AU links below). It has interchangleable front plates that just slide out and drop into place. Show the logo to the customer for the ride they ordered. Easy enough to change right from the driver's seat - if you have the box mounted within reach.

I didn't create some fancy attachment for it - people will stick things to their cars in ways that mortify me - but some simple double sided tape would work well here - the box is not heavy, nor is the light.
Print it in a filament that is more suitable for the temperatures you drive in - if you only do night time RideShare and always have the aircon running then PLA/PETG might be perfect, otherwise flip to a high temp filament for all that day time cash you are making.

Boost Me (for free)
My models are not award winning, but I am trying new things and learning new skills. If you want to see more "useful nik-naks" then consider a boost. I'm not sure who is looking or how many, but a boost will show there is interest - even if it is idle curiousity. Making models is great for my Aphantasia - it helps me "see" things better. Oh, and thank you for even bothering to read this far!!
