Description

These models are not to be sold in any way

This model I created on sharp 3d and blender. If you like this model please consider following me. You can also find me on makerworld/bambu handy. Anyway here is a backstory on the T55 AGM tank:

The T-55AGM is a Ukrainian modernization package for the Soviet-era T-54 and T-55 medium tanks, developed by the Kharkiv Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau (KMDB). The upgrade focuses on enhancing the tank's firepower, protection, and mobility to bring it closer to modern main battle tank standards. While a prototype was developed in the 2000s, the T-55AGM did not enter service.

Overview of features

The T-55AGM was developed as an export option for countries seeking to upgrade their large stockpiles of T-54/55 tanks. Significant improvements include:

  • Firepower: The aging 100mm main gun of the original T-55 is replaced with a more powerful, modern smoothbore cannon. An autoloader is also added, which reduces the crew size from four to three.
  • Protection: Additional layers of armor, including Ukrainian-developed "Nozh" explosive reactive armor (ERA), are fitted to the hull and turret to enhance survivability against modern threats.
  • Mobility: The tank receives a more powerful, fuel-efficient engine and a new transmission for improved speed and off-road performance.
  • Electronics: A modern, computerized fire control system is installed to improve accuracy, as well as new sighting systems and thermal imaging for enhanced target acquisition capabilities.

Key specifications

According to KMDB and Military Wiki, the T-55AGM's key specifications are:

  • Crew: 3 (commander, gunner, driver).
  • Weight: 46 tonnes.
  • Engine: Upgraded 5TDFM 5-cylinder diesel engine with either 850 hp or a more powerful 1,000 hp option.
  • Maximum speed: Up to 69.3 km/h with the 1,000 hp engine option.
  • Armament:
    • Main gun (choice of):
      • 125 mm KBM1 smoothbore gun
      • 120 mm KBM2 smoothbore gun (NATO-standard compatible)
    • Autoloader: Located in the turret bustle and holds 18 rounds.
  • Armor: Outfitted with Ukrainian-made "Nozh" explosive reactive armor (ERA).

Differences from the standard T-55

The T-55AGM's modernization package significantly improves on the original tank in several key areas:

  • Main gun: The T-55AGM replaces the original 100mm rifled gun with a more powerful 120mm or 125mm smoothbore cannon capable of firing modern ammunition, including guided missiles.
  • Armor protection: The T-55AGM's addition of ERA offers greater protection against high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) and armor-piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabot (APFSDS) rounds compared to the original T-55's homogeneous steel armor.
  • Fire control system: The T-55AGM's modern, computerized system dramatically improves accuracy when firing on the move, a capability the standard T-55 lacks.
  • Crew size and ergonomics: The installation of an autoloader on the T-55AGM reduces the crew size from four to three. The commander is also equipped with a remote-controlled anti-aircraft machine gun, allowing them to fire it from the safety of the turret.
