Description

Instructions should be self-apparent from the photos.

I used VHB tape to attach the back of the QMC5883L to the inside of the enclosure, then used VHB tape again to attach the finished device to the side of the meter. It works great, putting water meter data into ESPHome.

You will need the following:

  • Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32-C3
  • GY-271 QMC5883L magnetometer
  • 4x M2x4x3.2mm heat inserts
  • 4x M2x8mm screws
  • Optional: PLP2-125-S light pipe.
    • If you don't want the light pipe, I've included a file for the lid that has it omitted.

I “calibrated” the volume per half rotation value with a mixing bowl with volume markings and determined that the default value is spot-on (0.01008156 gallons per half rotation) for the Neptune T-10 meter.

The original Onshape model is located here
