Description

After the original rubber tracks of the RC excavator toy broke, I decided to design a new set from scratch.

Admittedly, I might have over-engineered this a little, but it turned into a fully modular track system suitable for both excavators and tanks.

The set includes:

  • Modular track links
  • Matching drive sprockets

The track links simply snap together when aligned at approximately 95°, making assembly quick and tool-free.

Print as many links as you need to reach your desired track length.

The design should scale easily if you need a different size.

I printed everything in PLA, which worked perfectly and requires no supports.

I give 4 stars for the work done (the modeling) hoping that the creator integrates a new, more resistant interlocking system :)

Let me see, if I can improve it. Where did it break for you?

printed in white Overture brand PLA, on P2s, without any parameter changes, the small clips broke during assembly

I was not experiencing this problem. Printed it with Bamboo PLA on my P2S. As long as you make sure, that you use the right angle to assemble, it will be strong enough. But maybe I find a way to strengthen it a bit.

a really good idea - especially since you don't need screws for the chain links. Based on this principle, I have also built such links myself. The reason for this was that I need completely different dimensions for my model. Best regards Torsten
