Zhuyin Fuhao (Bopomofo) is a phonetic system for annotating the pronunciation of Chinese characters, with a total of 37 symbols, which can be divided into three parts: initials, medials, and finals. There are 21 initials (e.g., ㄅ, ㄆ, ㄇ), 3 medials (ㄧ, ㄨ, ㄩ), and 13 finals (e.g., ㄚ, ㄛ, ㄜ). Zhuyin Fuhao is fundamental for learning Chinese, used for phonetics and character recognition.
